Cloud Computing users gain access to their applications from anywhere, through any connected device. The user-centric interface makes the cloud infrastructure and its resources supporting the applications transparent to users. The applications reside in massively scalable data centers where computational resources can be dynamically provisioned and shared to achieve significant gains in management efficiency, scalability of resources, and economies of scale. Access to the application resources are through either the Internet or private Intranet network using high bandwidth wide area network connections (the “cloud”). Using a service management platform, the management costs of adding more IT resources to the cloud can be significantly lower than those associated with alternate infrastructures.
The Cloud Computing Use Case group brought together cloud consumers and
cloud vendors to define common use case scenarios for cloud computing. The
use case scenarios demonstrate the performance and economic benefits of
cloud computing and are based on the needs of the widest possible range of
consumers.
